Developers may wish to take a pure Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) approach. This or the hybrid approach are the only options for a Single Sign-On (SSO) integration. This approach requires building XML manually and encompasses the same tradeoffs of complexity and flexibility. Due to the complexity of SAML, Selerix recommends the use of a third-party library to create the appropriate SAML XML for use in BenSelect transmissions. This is not, however, a requirement for integration.
In addition to the general competencies cited earlier, developers who take this approach will need to be familiar with the following web technologies: HTTP, SAML, WSDL, WSA10, WS-Security, SSL and TLS.
